FAQs
-
Is Donegal far away?
Donegal is actually closer than you think and there are transport options if you don’t want to drive. By car, we’re less than 4 hours’ drive from Dublin or 2.5 hrs from Belfast. For one of the world’s great airport arrivals, we highly recommend flying into Donegal Airport, situated beside Carrickfinn beach and 45 minutes drive from Breac.House.
-
Will I need a car?
This depends largely on the length of your stay and how far afield you’d like to roam while here. There are lots of walking and cycling options from our house and we’re also happy arrange taxi transfers from the airport or the bus station. Give us a shout to discuss further and we can advise on costs in advance.
-
Do you take children?
No. Our aim is to provide a complete escape for grown ups, whether they be couples, friends or siblings. Our rooms are designed to accommodate 1 or 2 adults in great comfort. We’re happy to recommend some great local hotels and other options for families.
-
Do you take groups?
Our modern retreat is designed with couples or solo travellers in mind. Our relaxation spaces, seaweed bath experience and wood fired sauna are all designed for 1 or 2. As Breac.House is also our home, we don't generally accommodate multiple room bookings or groups. Please contact us if you have any specific requirements you would like to discuss.
-
Do you take pets?
No. As a small private retreat we simply don’t have the facilities to pamper pets in the way that we like to pamper all our guests. As we are located in the middle of a farming community we cannot allow pets on any part of our premises including in cars in our car park. We are happy to recommend local kennels and dog minders on request.
-
Do you have a restaurant?
No we don't have a restaurant onsite but we’re lucky to be located beside Dunfanaghy village which has an excellent range of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets - from contemporary dining to open air oven-fired pizza. There are also some great options in the surrounding area. We’re more than happy to help with restaurant bookings and advice, as well as arranging transport to & from dinner if you need it.
-
Do you accommodate guests with different dietary requirements ?
We run a very small kitchen freshly preparing everything for our guests in-house. Our breakfast and lunch offerings are designed to celebrate the very best of local and seasonal produce including everything from local eggs, fish, meat and dairy to fruit and vegetables from our own garden and local organic producers. We would be very grateful if you could tell us well in advance if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions. We will do our very best to accommodate any dietary restrictions but would encourage all guests to embrace and explore the tastes of Donegal and Ireland which we have curated - please note that we can't prepare full vegan alternatives for all elements of our daily breakfast or lunch menu.
